Where to Start
My mother and I were talking about career coaching and executive coaching last night, and she turned to me and asked, "Where do you even start with people?"
Good question -- I am sure the process of being coached can seem mysterious or overwhelming from the outside, but the place I start is with the person sitting in front of me. I ask them what brings them to me, what is on their mind, and what do they think I should know?
You see, career coaching and executive coaching and all of those similar types of personal professional help center around the person -- they are deeply personal and unique, each time.
The one thing that the vast majority of people I work with have in common, though, is that they don't believe in themselves as much as they should. They don't see that they already have the skills to do the thing they dream of doing, they don't realize that they have people in their lives who see how great they are and want to help them, and they often don't believe they are good enough for their dream, somehow.
So, if I told you that you can get where you want to go, but you probably need to believe in yourself more because you are already pretty fantastic, what would you do?
Let me know if we can help.
